Do you have the passion and drive to be part of the fastest growing sport right here in the Pioneer Valley of Massachusetts? We have a home for you, whether it's playing on one of our bouting teams, being a skating or non-skating official, or joining us as a volunteer!
Join as a New Skater
We hold three recruitment nights each off-season. Our recruitment nights are not try-outs; they are a chance for you to learn about PVRD and roller derby and give it a try! People of all genders, all ages 18+, and all experience levels are welcome, whether you've been skating for years or have never skated before. We will teach you what you need to know! We also have rental gear available for $5.
Our upcoming recruitment nights are:
- Wednesday, September 4, 2019 at 7:30 PM
- Wednesday, November 6, 2019 at 7:30 PM
- Wednesday, January 8, 2020 at 7:30 PM
Join as an Official
If a full contact sport and/or skating isn't for you, you can still join us! Playing roller derby takes a lot of skating and non-skating referees, and PVRD has a whole crew of them: Justice Above Glory, or J.A.G. Corps. Our officials practice once a week and some travel to officiate bouts all over the region.
If you're interested in joining us as a new skating official, please come to our next recruitment night (see above). If you're interested in joining us as a non-skating official, you can come to a recruitment night or join us any time! Email email@example.com for more information.
Why join roller derby?
Derby was, and will always be, one of the best experiences of my life . . . I had a ton of fun, met a lot of people, and made some fantastic friends who've stuck with me even after I left the derby world. I highly recommend it—try skating, try reffing, try being an NSO. You'll never regret it. —Calico Jack Wreckem

Join as a Volunteer
Don't want to join as a skater or a non-skating official, but still want to be part of the league? Hooray! PVRD includes a number of volunteers who help out in various ways, from photography and graphic design to announcing at bouts to helping with outreach and fundraising. Contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org to express your interest!
Transfer to Pioneer Valley Roller Derby
If you currently play/officiate or have played/officiated roller derby elsewhere and are moving to the Pioneer Valley, there's no need to wait until PVRD's next recruitment night -- most transfer skaters and officials can join us any time! Email email@example.com and include how long it's been since you last skated, your derby name (if you have one), and what league(s) you've skate(d) with, and a coach will get back to you with information about PVRD and the process of joining as a transfer.
