PVRD better stop having so much fun or else we might get bored with it! On Friday, September 21st, the Dirty Dozen were joined by members of the New York Shock Exchange and Harm City Homicide for a mixed scrimmage during the intermissions at Providence Roller Derby’s Season 3 Championship.

The boys in red and green skated before an enthusiastic crowd and enjoyed the Hell out of the smooth concrete surface. The final score remains something of a mystery, but we do know that the red team scored a massive amount of points and the green team scored a regular amount of points.

On Saturday, September 22nd, the ladies of Western Mass Destruction ventured to Portland, Maine for a rematch with their first ever bouting partners, the Vacationland Vixens of Maine Roller Derby. The action was fast and furious with MRD coming away with a 108 – 93 win. MRD’s new venue, the Portland Expo Center was big and beautiful and the WMDs had a great time skating there.

We here at Pioneer Valley Roller Derby would like to thank all the fine ladies and gentlemen who skated, reffed, tracked stats, announced, cheered and jeered this weekend. We love you all.

PVRD Double Header Bout = Wicked Fun!

On Saturday, September 8th, Pioneer Valley Roller Derby hosted a two-pronged derby event featuring both the Men’s & Women’s divisions skating against visiting teams.

The fellows of the Dirty Dozen were up first, taking on the Harm City Homicide of Baltimore. The ladies’ team – Western Mass Destruction battled it out with the Tri-Skate Collision Coalition, a team made up of players from CT Rollergirls, Gotham Girls Roller Derby, Charm City Rollergirls and Suburbia Roller Derby of Westchester County, N.Y.

Both of PVRD’s divisions seemed to hit their respective strides in the second periods. The Dirty Dozen came away with a 100-67 win and the WMDs managed to close a large first period gap and end with a respectable 59-74 loss.

Everyone here at PVRD would like to extend our warmest thanks and mad derby love to all the fantastic guys and gals who made this a truly excellent weekend. We could not have done it without all of you and we are all touched by your willingness to help us out.
