Weekend Recap
8/24/09
Pioneer Valley Roller Derby would like to thank everyone who came out this weekend to help and support us. We would also like to thank everybody who helped to promote our final bout.

Unfortunately, due to the humidity and rain, the track was too slippery for our skaters to skate on. In the interest of safety, we had to cancel our final bout this season. We apologize for an inconvenience this may have caused you and we appreciate your continued support. Click here for a statement from PVRD co-founder Bazooka Joe.
Skaters from all the teams made the best of the situation and played a pickup game of dodge ball after the derby demo on sneakers and skater intros.
Thanks to the CT Death Quads, and Waterbury, CT's Roller Magic Skating Rink - PVRD, Puget Sound Outcast Derby and Lehigh Valley Rollergirls were able to play 2 half-hour periods, before the commencement of the Death Quad's home bout.
First, the ladies of WMD mixed it up with Lehigh Valley in a white on black scrimmage. The white team was comprised of WMD skaters, while the black team included 5 Lehigh Skaters, and WMD's Nora Morse and Andy Nihilate. Final Score: White WMD 46 - Black Lehigh+ 28.

In the second 30 minute period, the Dirty Dozen took on the Puget Sound Outcast Derby. Puget Sound's fast, and agile jammers sliced through the pack, while the equally speedy blockers delivered big hits. Ultimately it was the Dirty Dozen's pack control and endurance that helped them win the game. Final score: Dirty Dozen: 74 - Puget Sound 53.

Stay tuned, while PVRD organizes it's 2010 home season. For you adventurous folks - you can see PVRD take on Garden State Roller Girls and the New York Shock Exchange on Sept 25th in Newark, NJ.
