FRESH MEAT NIGHT

Final open session for 2010

02/24/2010

Have you been thinking about joining Pioneer Valley Roller Derby, but putting it off? How many times have you thought "Maaaaaybe I'll go to Fresh Meat Night next month...."? Are you feeling shy? Feeling nervous? Feeling lazy?

Guess what: TIME'S UP!!!!

March 3rd 7:30 - 9:30 will be our FINAL OPEN FRESH MEAT NIGHT OF THE SEASON!

So put those doubts away (or bring 'em along), and come on down to see if Roller Derby is for YOU!

Skaters work in pairs for basic blocking skills.

No skating or Roller Derby experience necessary, and we don't hold try-outs. Just show up!. We don't expect you to know how to skate, or understand the game, or even be in great shape. We'll teach you to skate, then teach you to play!

What we CAN'T teach you is your own commitment to training, and to the league. It takes a great deal of personal discipline to succeed at roller derby - it's a physically demanding sport. Playing roller derby requires the desire on your part to TRY, to FAIL and to ultimately SHINE at brand new skills.

If this sounds like your cup of FRESH MEAT - then drink it up, baby!

Learning how to fall builds core strength and prevents injuries.

Here's what you need for your first visit:

- Comfortable clothes you can move in (You will eventually be wearing safety gear over your clothes)

- Water (recommended) or other sports drink

- Any quad skates and protective gear you already own (All league skaters are required to wear knee pads, elbow pads, wrist guards, mouthguard, and a skate helmet)

- Your listening cap (We'll have a LOT of info to dole out to you on your first night, about the sport and about our league)

***We DO have loaner gear available, INCLUDING SKATES.***

Please join us March 3rd, 2010, 7:30pm at the PVRD Bunker and practice space.

Remember to arrive EARLY for sign-in and to get loaner gear!

Hope to see you there!
